Aircraft Acquisitions
In these economic times, when someone is ready to buy an aircraft it’s very tempting to try to find the best deal out there and jump on it. While saving money is always important, Welsch Aviation understands the best way to acquire an aircraft is a more methodical approach, starting with determining if buying an aircraft is the right thing to do.
As a partner in the acquisition process, the Welsch Aviation experts work with those considering an aircraft to review the options available to them. Whether buying an aircraft or a fractional share, or just using charter, we examine a company’s needs and discuss how appropriate each option would be.
If buying an aircraft is the right solution, we’ll again work with the client to determine which model of aircraft is best for them. We’ll review trip lengths and frequency, base and destination airports, number of passengers, allowable budget and other parameters, all with an idea of understanding which type of aircraft is best-suited for the mission.
After the above issues are addressed, an aircraft search is a much more productive process.
All aircraft are not the same. While the Federal Aviation Regulations apply to every aircraft regardless of size, some get better care and are more reliable than others. This difference, while not always obvious, can have a direct effect on the value of the aircraft and on its ability to efficiently support a company’s flight needs.
The Welsch Aviation experts understand this difference. Our years of experience inspecting aircraft and their maintenance records gives us a unique ability to determine relative values of different aircraft being considered for purchase. Planes can be repainted, seats can be recovered, and radios can be upgraded, but an aircraft’s history is forever. When someone buys a pre-owned aircraft, they are taking ownership of everything that’s happened to it since it was built, so it’s vitally important to understand an aircraft’s history and how it affects value and reliability. Welsch Aviation takes this effort very seriously.
Another difference between Welsch Aviation and many others in the industry is the fact that Welsch Aviation is a broker-only company, and we’ve never tried to sell an aircraft that we own. We believe it’s a cleaner way to do business, and allows us to focus solely on what’s best for the client.
